See also the OBD-II forum at mp3car. Lots of good threads there on cheap and effective options. I really like the full version Digimoto software myself, that's what I'm planning to eventually go with. It's really quite reasonably priced. For me especially: I still painfully remember having to pay $112 last year for a code scan I never asked for. 02.gif

If I was going to buy today, it would be from Scantool.

Thanx!!! That's an awesome site! fing02.gif

I found out that there is 2 easy way to build the enterface:
1) using optoisoliators
2) using ELM323 chip

ELM323 data sheet (with instructions how to comunicate with ECU)

Anybody interested in building cheap interface?

I am interested in building the interface. In fact, I started thinking about a DIY project as soon as I saw the auctions in your post. I looked up and found 3 or 4 sets of schematics, and learned about the programmable IC's or optoisolator methods you were talking about. Those parts seem hard to get... Cheapest I saw was a kit for $38 for just the IC chip, oscillator, and plastic plug. Of course that did all of the interfaces I think (maybe not CAN, not sure) That's the other thing is the actual plug itself, that and the optoisolators or the IC chip would have to be special ordered I'm pretty sure. Let me know if you come up with any more info.
