Not to turn this into a debate on backpressure, but running open headers still provides enough backpressure to not harm the engine in any way. There are heaps of turbocharged vehicles that only run dump pipes, or end the exhaust middway under teh car, and they have no problem going 100,000 miles on the engine that way. Don't mislead people.

I've run open headers ending at the cat for 15 miles, and I had no problems with sagging at the flex pipe. But that really doesn't matter since you have free towing.

I do agree with Patreezy that he probably had a cat installed, and you don't. Seems the logical reason for the gap. But why do you suggest he had to "cut" the pipes to take it off? I would think the Motoria exhaust has flanges, but maybe I'm wrong?

But everything this guy has is stock. Headers and all. Are you sure that you didnt remove the CAT on accident? It needs to stay there or the midpipe will be about 16" too short from matching up to the downpipe from the headers. It should go Headers, Downpipe (FLANGE), CAT (FLANGE), Midpipe (FLANGE), Muffler.

I have my first cat installed from the headers down but then everything was taken off after that, the straight pipe that came with the exhaust I put on then the stock midpipe is there for now, then the Motoria muffler. I think I am just going to have someone cut the flange of and weld a new piece together so it makes up the difference. The gap is only like 5-6 inches maybe even less. I just didnt understand why it wouldnt just bolt up, whatever it was I could care less now, its on and working, when I get the chance to get it to a shop I will, which should be this week sometime. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Just wondering was one tib an RD2 and the other an RD1. I know on some the flanges are different and some people have said there is a length difference on some also. No one has really confirmed this but from what I have heard from a person or two is that is just about what you said (5 inches or so).

it was an rd2 that it came off of, and mine is an rd2 alo

That is really weird, are you the first owner on your tib? Maybe a previous owner needed a new cat and put a shorter one than stock on?

Yes I am the first and only owner but I am going to a shop over the week to get a piece welded in there to make it meet, as of right now I have the stock midpipe in there to use the car.

i had the same problem with my obx. i too have the stock flexpipe on now. i think its because the obx/whatever header extends back a bit longer, which makes it need a shorter flexpipe.

yea I kept the stocl flexpipe on just took everything off after that.
