Last night when I tried to start my car, it wouldn't. It would crank but not turn over. I had my hvac disconnected, so I think that it was creating a vacuum leak. Does this make sense? Would having your hvac disconnected cause this?

^^ Really?! hummmm, then I'm wondering if it's another problem I'm having. That's the only thing I had disconnected from my car. I tried to turn the engine over, it looked like it was going to start, and died. After that, I couldn't start it again (only crank). I checked the voltage at the battery at that point, and it was 12V. I got boost from another car, read 13.7V at the battery on my tib, and it STILL wouldn't start. I cranked for like 20 seconds continuously (while being boosted), and it finally started. As soon as it started, I heard the hiss and thought, "damn, this was probably because I had the hvac disconnected". I let the engine run for 15minutes. I started the tib about 4 times since last night, and no problems, now. I would try to disconnect the hvac to reproduce and test to see if having the hvac disconnected was what caused this problem, but I don't have access to another boost, right now.

The hvac controls where you control heat/cold, fan speed, ac turn on/off ... was disconnected from the hvac lines on the dash.

I know cold starting requires more fuel, so it's possible the extra air caused it to not start (too lean), maybe depends on the weather who knows..
You can put your finger on that plug to cover up the leak tho

No effect on your starting at all, I drove without a dash or HVAC for over 6 months.

I haven't had the problem happen since. If it is something else, I don't want it to creep up on me when I'm at work, or anything. I work 10 miles away, and temperatures are at like 21 Farenheit.
