Default how much faster is a v6 gk tib versus a beta tib with bolt ons?

this guy at work just bought a gk tib and wants to race. hes completely stock except he has the v6. i have a beta tib with i/h/e, shark racing tb, and bored out im, aftermarket clutch and fidanza flywheel, no backseat and carbon fiber hood for weight reduction. we both have manual transmissions.

he thinks he'll beat me and wants to put money down. should i do it or will he win?

Drivers race on that one., IMO. If it was an auto Id say you for sure... but... If he sucks, you win. If you suck, he could win. You both suck, you both look hilarious and he might win due to v6 torque.

Honestly, if he's a good driver he'll take you. Been there done that in our V6 Tib.

An RD with at least I/E should be dead even with a STOCK GK. But once the GK puts an exhaust on, it's all over with.

I've had several friends with RD's and GK's. We raced all the time with different mods.

A V6 GK is slow in stock form, but Sharkvelocity (maybe you remember him from the old days) put on a homemade intake and a $80 single exhaust and ran 14.7's. That's pretty damn good if you ask me.

One of these days I'll get to a drag strip to get some numbers on the Tib. I do know that with the Fujita CAI and SSA catback I raced a modified Civic SI several times and won. Why is that relevant you ask? Because 2 weeks later I watched him run 14.6X times twice at the drag strip.

The pull from a dig is way better in the V6 GK manual than any N/A Beta powered car I've personally seen/driven/raced/ridden in. I also raced Jsharptooth's Beta swapped LC w/ header, CAI, and exhaust and took him. It was pretty close, but the GK did repeatedly walk away.

Stock our GK put down 161whp and 169lb/ft on a Mustang Dyno. That's stock right down to the paper air filter. Best I/H/E Beta that day did 132whp and 129lb/ft. Add 5hp max for the TB and IM work and you'll have to be enough lighter or have gearing advantage to make up for about a 24hp and 35lb/ft deficit. Stock weight difference is about 300lbs (2970 vs. 2663), figure another 90 for the cf hood and back seat removal.

2970lbs 161whp 169lb/ft
18.45lbs/hp 17.57lbs/lb/ft

2573lbs 137whp 134lb/ft
18.78lbs/hp 19.20lbs/lb/ft

It's a driver's race with those numbers, but from my experience I would put my money on the GK.
