upgraded TBs for the srt-4 are 62mm.... and there are srt-4s running 500+whp with the same TB.

people bore their stockers out to 58mm, and there are plenty of people running 450whp on that setup..

i'd never sacrifice throttle response for a small bit of top end power.

yeah an aftermarket is nicer, but no point to go really big IMO. you can make the stock one a lot better by tightening up the cable.

i attributed the response/power to my TB, but when i swapped back (after i tightened the cable) it was about the same, barely noticable.

i went from stock to 62mm GTR TB..

stokc tib TB's are 53mm, the largest you can go in a stock core is 58mm

so far from what i've seen 58mm is enough for 95% of all modded tibs here
same for boosted tibs

Thanks for the help guys fing02.gif

I love my low end to much to risk hurting it (I never go over 3K rpms in daily driving).

Anyway, I just got the OEM TB that I ordered on ebay.

I'm going to go post in the other thread about getting it bored out now laugh.gif

EDIT: I guess I'll just hang on to the other TB's I ordered until I go boost.

Please keep this thread open though so I can post comparison pics with I get them slomo.gif

Lol, I totally just found where you guys are keeping all the sweet emocons rule.gif

So if I were to buy the 60mm shark racing BBTB would I lose much throttle response or is 60mm fine? or would i be much better off buying a stock on and getting Dennis to bore it out to 57 or 58mm?

You'd be better with the 58mm, unless you're going to run high compression and big cams.

I agree, I really just got mine to prove a point, and to see what would work, the 65MM and Airram works, the 65MM and a heavily ported OEM IM works even better. If I weren't boosting, I'd sell my 65MM to make some cash.

Hell, I still might.

So I got all the throttle bodies this weekend.

I was pretty disappointed when I found out how far off the bolt holes are.

I won't be using them anyway, so it's no biggy I guess.

Sorry about the rusty measuring tape 02.gif

/\Beta 1 /\Crown Vic 4.3L /\ 99 Land Rover Discovery

Neither of them are a direct bolt on.

They could be made to fit by expanding the holes though.

I may hang on to the Crown Vic TB for when I boost later, it looks like a decent size and not MASSIVE like the land rover TB.

i think you can re-drill the holes. it shouldn't be hard, but i think it works with a metal drill and a drill press (for lineage). sorry it didn't work out as good as you thought.

you would have to find a thread cutter to rethread the holes for the TPS. i'm sure there are shops that wouldn't mind helping you out. there are plenty of shops where i live. i've never been there, but my friend tells me they were converting some car into a convertible and they have all kinds of stuff. pretty certain if they have thread cutters.

i've heard the closest match on our cars are mustang TB's. don't take my word for it, i just recall someone mentioning it from a few years back.

anything can be done at a machine shop that has a small horizontal or vertical boring mill.

HKC, they are called taps to cut threads in a hole and dies to make threads in a piece of round bar stock, just FYI.

None of the ford ones that are supposed to fit actually fit, from what I've seen, faithofadragon posted pics of his years ago, and it was a horrible hack job.
