will a rd2 hood latch cable work on a rd1??? if not does anyone have any rd1's I can purchase used and cheap?

It SHOULD fit fine. Cant promise or anything but I think it will fit. Has yours failed? Due to the accident or what? I always keep mine lubricated with some PB blast or seafoam because it sucks when those break.

it will work fine, I have a RD1 latch on my RD2 and have held both next to each other...they are the same

Yeah it ripped the cable from the latch in the accident.
