Ok, so I bought my car used from a private seller, it's in great shape..except I have to get a new engine now..but after I got it, I noticed my hazard lights won't come on when I push the button in..I figured it was just the fuse, but then I realized that when my hazard lights are "on", my blinkers won't work, but as soon as I turn them off, my blinkers work again. Any ideas?

They use the same bulbs don't they? How are you going to blink hazards and turns with the same bulb at the same time . . . isn't this normal?

That's what I was thinking, but then why won't they blink when I turn the hazard on? Faulty wiring maybe? and how would I fix this?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (ZKend @ Mar 1 2010, 04:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>because they both dont function at the same time...</div>

I was referring to the fact that when I turn just my hazards on, they don't blink. Obviously it's registering that they're on, since my blinkers wont work while it's in, so then any ideas on why when I have just my hazards on, they don't blink.

ah okay....thats better. i think we were confused by your first statement.

Definately electrical. sounds like some goofed wiring since your turn sigs blink, but your hazards dont

Sorry bout the lack of clarity, I made this when I was basically half asleep haha XD.

As for the issue, any idea on how to fix this/what to look at? I've scanned the DIY and don't believe I saw anything, but I will look again

The circuit is probably slightly more complicated, but not much more than:

Switches
Relays
Wiring
Lamps

It's all a hassle to get at, but nothing terribly complex. Does the relay click?

By click, are you referring to the clicking that you normally hear when you turn a car's hazards on? if so, I don't believe it does. But when I use my blinkers, as in when i turn, they make the click noise.
