Yeah so theres this really annoying sound comming from one of my back wheels, it's sorta like rubbing steel wool on metal or something. I assume it's something to do with the brakes since when I push them hard it goes away and when i drive with the handbrake on a bit it also goes away. But what I want to know is what exactly it could be, it just happend randomly one day. I'm gonna take my wheel off and check it out this weekend if I have time.

Does it go away if you go around a curve in one direction or the other?

Nope, actually it doesn't really make a difference. I just have to be moving, fast or slow.

Just checking if it was a wheel bearing problem, you're probably right w/ the brake assumption then.

sounds like dragging brakes, one of your calipers might be stuck. could be air in the system or even the e brake cable getting stuck

many cars i have acquired have this problem it goes away at hard braking but is there for light braking and not when e-braking. every car i replace the rotors, and its gone. if the car sat for a month or more with rust build up on the rotors it highly possible that they are the cause.

I had this problem too, it was a warped rotor for me. I would notice this scraping-like sound when I would brake at any speed above 50km/h.

Im gonna try changing my pads first, then if that does nothing maybe the rotors.


The griding sound goes away when I brake tho. And my brakes seem to work perfectly fine.

i wouldn't change them i would clean them and spray them with a product in an Orange can thats squeak-ex or something, and if still there replace pads and rotors all at once

o i forgot to mention my tib did this ass well. new pads make no difference it comes back in less than a few hundred miles. sure new pads are great but if you pay labor and then later warrenty them out you pay labor twice.
