nope, thats the thing. my light has never come on, even though ive had it WAY past the E. i thought it just didnt work. but like i said, i guess its the guage...

Tibminn - If you say your light has never come on and when you get VERY VERY low youll fill it up and itll take 10-11 gallons. Then your not really running it that low. When my tank hits that little area between the end of the curved line and the little block ( where it looks like its on E) It still has about 3-4 gallons in it. So my guess is you just thinking it really really low because you havent ever seen it go lower. Try to just keep going until the light comes on, then look where the guage is. Bet you its below where you thought E was.

unlike a diesel engine, Dmitry, gasoline fuel pumps are self priming. You would need to change the fuel filter through, probably tons of junk to get sucked in.

Ive thought about that, i ran my old car really low and the filter got just filled with crap. is there any risk in doing that to our cars if we go down until the low fuel light comes on?
