hmm, strange thing happened. I check fuel consumption everytime I fill my tank.
I tried to drive like a granny (for a week yikes.gif ), shift at 2500 RPM, don't rev over 3000, lots of cruising (in city), the less I could braking accelerations.
So my fuel consumption was 11 L for 100 km. (21 mpg).
If I drive much faster, shift at 3000-4000 RPM, brake-acelerate - I have fuel consumtion 9-9.5 L per 100 km (24-26 mpg).
Strange...

Lower RPMs doesn't necessarily mean better gas mileage when your driving around the city. Having to go 50% throttle in 3rd gear @ 1500RPM to get up to speed isn't as good as being in 2nd and having the throttle less wide open. At least thats what I've concluded. shhh.gif

Normal city driving I get about 25 (not granny shifting). So I think 21ish MPG sounds about right just because of how rich our tibs run. So lower RPMs = not much less fuel that 50%-75% throttle I would assume. Plus on the 50-75% you would obviously be getting there faster. Just my 2 cents.

It all has to do with how much or how hard you press the pedal. Even if you shift at 2000-2500 rpm, if you press the pedal more than you should the gas will still be consumed but without the results, so this won't be effective. If you want to test the mpg while driving like a granny, try to press GENTLY on the acc. pedal and wait till the car revs up slowly.
