Heh heh...Ok men...I get the message.

I'd still like to go with this setup if I can bring the price down, closer to 4 grand. But I've tried several times and the guy has shot me down, saying that the engine cost him more than that.

All prices even, I'd prefer this setup to a turbo setup.

If you could give me some facts about how much you think it would cost to purchase/manufacture + install + tune these components, I'd appreciate it.

Once again it all depends on your goals, and if you want a daily driver with a beefed up engine, then it's not the most important thing if it has 180WHP or if it has 165WHP right? I mean, at the end you would like a strong NA engine.
I like your idea, but I think price is just too much.
Let's say you buy a set of hi-cams (from 270 to 282 depending on what you want) a set of 13:1 comp pistons, and a retuned ECU (going to a korean source I think would be the best), plus all the bolt ons you want (AirRam, BBTB, header, etc), those parts should be around $2000~$2300. Add some money for extensive dyno tuning (how much more $500?) and add the labor cost for a shop to balance your engine, do you think they would charge you $3000 to do it?
Because making numbers like that could give you an idea of what you'd get.

On the other hand, just going with a better ECU, cams (and could only be intake), a bunch of bolt ons and maybe shaving your head a little to raise compression to like 10,5~10,7:1 could cost you just a tad of your actual budget and get you 80% in the performance you would get, do you feel like you want to spend that extra cash for just another 20% improvement?

if i remember correctly we cant shave the heads somethin about theres not much beef there
you can do this

get a new short block if you want it to be new (personally i would just get a junkyard one and take out everything then send it to a machine shops there are tons of hotrod guys that will clean it up nicely)
send out your head to extrud hone they are WAY more famous than supertech
get some hi comp pistons
get some hi cams
new lightweight pulleys
supertech/maintec header
airram
65mm tb
cam gears
CAI
prd wires
beef up your tranny some
get a lsd cuz those help alot
a smt6 should help with tuning

most of that you can install yourself if your not scared/have tools only thing i would think would be really difficult is the smt6 and the lsd get a manual and use that to install everything back together (like a chiltons)

then send off for someone to dyno it

Now look here.

8.5:1 forged pistons would be $600-900 installed
turbo kit with regular t3 turbo that could easily give you close to 300whp would be $3000 with pretty much everything you need.
now a little bit of tuning and such and it might raise the price max to $5000

And you have close to 300whp for less money. If you get it installed at the shop then you will have their warranty if something goes wrong.

You get twice as much power for less money and I bet you it will be just as reliable!
