The PRD's probably didn't cause the problem.
Think about it.
You had one set of wires melt. These are arching between them.
I think you have some electrical issues.

just check and make sure your battery is grounded to both spots. One is bolted to the tranny and a smaller one is bolted next to the battery.
btw, where's the arching at? is it at the coil pack, it could be something as simple as an internal short in a coil pack. pack heats up super hot = melty wires.
