Actually, i've grown fond of my exhaust as it is. It sounds great with just the sensor extending into it. But if I were to use the bolt, it would not be taken out, it would unscrew and I'd have a nut on the bolt to lock it in place.

Well anything that restricts flow is going to quiet the exhaust. Alot of the domestic guys run electric cut-outs. Open it and the exhaust dumps before the muffler. You could run one of these and replace your muffler with a larger, more restrictive one. Run quiet most of the time, flip the switch when you need extra power. Expensive solution, but easier than climbing under the car to mess with a bolt.
