Exhaust Question

Re: The Legitimacy of our 1/4 miles
Dual Exhaust usually will hurt performance on a 4cl NA motor.
I would reccomend finding a muffler that you like, then having a shop custom bend you a cat back system. Make sure that it is mandrel bends and for NA, I would reccomend 2.25 or 2.5".
As far as stainless, if you have the money go for it. I went with aluminum due to cost reasons. Aluminum will rust (I hear it will take about 7 years) but it is a lot lighter.

Re: FS:GK METALLIC PEDAL COVERS
are you sure your exhaust is aluminum? I'm pretty sure it's aluminized mild steel. Aluminum would have to be very thick in order to work as an exhaust, which would cost just as much as SS

Re: FS: Angel Eyes and lighting, Last Chance Sale of haloz.
if the shop does mandrel bends, go 2.25. If the shop does press bends, go 2.5. I don't know about how the Beta does with 2.5 mandrel, but 2.5 mandrel bends on my friend's cars, such as 2.5 mandrel on a 1.8L Celica, made low end torque suffer and riding around town a pain in the butt.
I went with 2.5 press bent. Mandrel is overrated in my opinion. You might squeeze another 2hp out of mandrel, if not less... and thats not worth another 250 bucks (I was quoted 200 for 2.5 press bent, 450 for 2.25 mandrel) that could be spent towards a header.
I would go with 2.5 mild aluminized steel press bent. Its going to be cheap and effective. Its going to last a few years, and in that time you might change the direction you want to go with your car.

Re: corner lights for Gen 1
Whoever quoted you 450 for mandrel is an idiot.
And for having "CRUSH" bends, not press, you lose out on a LOT.

Re: corner lights for Gen 1
I was quoted $400 for 2.5in mandrel as well, shops charge a lot of money for it!!!
Crush bent is not comparable to mandrel bent, even 2.5 crush will not be comparable to 2.25 mandrel. gases flow a lot smoother!

Re: Weight reduction info!
Wow.
Minike here charges $185 for a full mandrel bent custom exhaust.
Installed.
Well, actually, you have to add the price of the muffler you want.
Still, barely over 200.

Minike doesn't do it in my area, only Midas, that's probably the reason why they charge so much.

My quotes included the muffler, i think it was 120 dollar one... sounds nice though. The reason why the prices are so high is I went to two shops, one was near me and one was about 30 miles away. They are the only two shops within like 50 miles I think. So kind of a monopoly on business.
I didn't say they would be comparable, just that 2.25 crushed or press bent wouldn't do much over stock. You might as well get 2.5. The diameter of the pipe (outside around the exhaust) on my press bent is 8 inches. When you get to the bends it shrinks to 7 1/2 inches on 90 degree bends.
