After my 60K tune up, there are two recalls -- one for the exhaust manifold, and the other for those God forsaken seatbelts!

I noticed that after I shut my car off, you can feel plenty of excess heat swarming our from underneath. I'm assuming this has something to do with that exhaust manifold that is needing to be replaced..

Do you think this is robbing some horsepower as well? Bah, I'll get the part installed in less than an hour sometime this week anyway, just curious.

From my understanding the recall was issued due to problems of the exhaust manifold cracking.

if u do have one of the cracked axhaust mani's, then yes, u will lose power, mine was so bad, i could actually see inside of my header, and the local hyundai dealer wouldnt fix it unless i paid for the install. so im runnign a 1st gen OEM tibby exhaust mani set up. and it works great, plus i lost the cat cause the 1st gens dont have it right off the mani like our 2nd gens do smile.gif

I also read there is a recall on the valve body for automatic transmissions for some tibs.
2kShark, maybe you should get some info on that from the dealer, maybe you would be able to fix some of the problems you are having with your tranny.

haha.gif Great idea Jon... solves all the problems right there. lmao.gif

As for the heat permeating from under the car, thats normal. The only way they would fix it is if there is a visible crack in the manifold, which would make your exhaust a lot louder from the leak.

If you have no crack, just let the fans kick on once once you stop driving. That cools it down plenty enough.

Well I knew the heat buildup under the car was normal after I found out it was a problem with the exhaust manifold. But yes, Hyundai sent me a letter saying that my special order parts are in for the manifold AND seatbelt.

And yes, the exhaust manifold is covered for free

Although I will probably get the seatbelt fixed, I don't know about the exhaust manifold because it'll take an hour or so to install, and won't the installation of the 4-2-1 headers eliminate this problem anyway?

Well if your exhaust mani is cracked the new header takes care of that problem, also if you want you can get 4 point seatbelts for $80 a piece, theyre not that much of a hassle for me to get them on now but some passengers compliain but some love them cool.gif

when I called the dealer to ask about cracked manifold recall they told me to give them my VIN. I did it, and they said that my Tib is not for European market, so I can suck my nuts... blowjob.gif
