is there a fuel cutoff or fuel pump or any type of limiter to some Tibs? my friends got a RD2 and whenever he reaches 110ish he says his car makes a sound like it cuts of the engine and he cant go above that speed, like in mine i have no problem going over 120ish ever, ive heard that some cars have such a thing that their fuel gets cut off at a certain speed around 115 or something like that? do any RD2's have that?

Default Engine Cutoff at highspeeds?

Tib cuts off at 132mph at 6000rpm I believe.

Governor in 5th gear limits it to 6000. With the gearing in the Tib and the RPM limit of 6700 (I think? I shift at 6200 anywayz, dont get that high), you could realistically see 142mph if your Tib could get there. 142mph is the limit with the gearing. If you change the gearing, then you can go faster than that. Hell, if you have the power and put in the right gearing, you could go 200mph if you wanted and had cash to throw around. wink.gif

Actually, if you can actually get an automatic fast enough lol, I think they have less aggressive gearing. Meaning they top out higher. I know this is true on GKs. The manuals have fairly aggressive gearing, good for quick acceleration but not top speed. Thats ones of the reasons why manual RDs are around 16.0-16.5, and automatics run 16.5-17.2 in the quarter mile.

Nah, probably not even if you removed the speed limiter out of the ECU. A stock Tib probably couldn't overcome the drag created from going that fast. If you wanna know what a car is going through, go to about 100 and stick your head out the window. I'm not responsible for neck injuries. lol.gif

If its decently modded without the limiter, then yeah. A 14 second quarter turbocharged Tibby could probably make it to 145 in a few miles of road.

the speed limiter thingy, thats what i was talking about at the beginging right, how can i like, override that or something, go around it, like thats my point, does it help out in lower speeds if its taken out also?

It won't help lower than that. Its just there to cut fuel when you hit 6000rpm in 5th gear. I know some people have removed it out of the Elantra because it kicks in at like 115 and some people were hitting it in the quarter, but I really don't know how to mess with it on the Tibby.
