thank everyone ! hmm im gonna have to search through HMA and see if i can determine if a mod of the HD elantra unit would work.
at 150 HP, any power gain is of benefit! when i took all the belts off a few years ago (except ALT. of course) when i first installed the valeo hyper clutch, i noticed a HUGE difference in engine performance, but now a days i would love to connect an electrical unit just to save some dino juice.

oh man, the HD elantra has some sort of shaft mounted motor device. looks completely "fluidless" lol. lame... i doubt a conversion from HD elantra to RD2 tib would be worth the man hours... possible? yea, worth it? meh...
the mr2 conversion is simple electrically; but could be tedious to fabricate brackets in the PS pump location.

something like this might work.
need to dos would be:
making a mount
custom column shaft
Anvil Mustang Video #4 - Electric Power Steering
the oem unit looks impossible due to its communication with an ECU.
plus the design probably makes the steering feel late and unprecise due to its "TORSION BAR" in the column.... no?
Hyundai Power Steering (MDPS)
p.s.- did that dude just say "dissembled" at the end of the video? WTF ??

just thought of another option-... de-power the rack
this involves removing the valving within the rack and eliminating the power steering alltogether. google "miata de-powering the rack" and there's a ton of info on it.
this is a very popular mod on miatas. it's said to have very little effect on the sharpness of steering and is apparentlty even better than their factory manual rack.
it's also a hell of a lot cheaper and easier than trying to adapt a system from a mr2.
i'm eager to see someone do this!

Freeway = easy
Backing out of a parking space = gives you a workout
I wanted to do the depowered rack but the wife said no
She wears the panties in the relationship so I listened
