Default E-brake cable

Is there 2 cables or just 1 that splits off, because I am finding a major glut of left side e-brake cables, and an abundance of right side ones.

i believe there are two cables, left and right that both come through the bottom of the chassis into a single link inside the center console directly behind the handbrake. is that your question?

no problem. what exactly are you trying to do? they shouldn't be hard to replace. i've never replaced mine but i think there is a way to tighten them i just forgot because it's been a long time.

Hope so, there seems to be some extra play, so to speak when I pull on the handle. There feels like almost no tension for the first half of the pull, I'm gonna check HMA but that's what is going on.

That and the rad fan screwed up on me a little today, I ended up overheating in a parking lot. I tweaked some wires and checked relay connections and got it running again.

It was weird.

BTW, found that e-brake adjusting thing here...

The adjuster is in the center console. Loosen it to remove the two cables from the adjuster and then pull them out the bottom of the car. To get rid of play, release the brake and then tighten the nut a few turns. Now try the handle to check for play.

BTW, I think you may be unclear on the meaning of "glut". Glut and abundance pretty much mean the same thing.

Sorry, I was always told that glut was an absence of, probably taught wrong.

Yep. Glut means overabundance. Usually used to describe a market condition where there's so many of something that it drives the price down.

Either way, hope you figured out your parking brake situation.

i just replaced my ebrake cables on my 2001, one side had seized up on me. Bought both cables at my dealer for $55 each side. Paid a guy at a local oil change place $20 bucks to put them both on. Took about 30 minutes. I could have done it myself easily, but didn't want to mess with it.
