Do I Need A New Alternator? :(
#11
You don't actually remove it. It just makes it easier to get to the alternator from the top. Just remove the thre bolts from the power stering bracket and swing it away to the left. Leave the hoses connected. You should then have a clear view of the alternator from the top. The three bolts go into the block of the engine.

Here's a quick easy test.
Start the car (whatever it takes .. jump it or charge the battery or w/e)
With the car running, disconnect the battery
If the car stays running, the battery is bad
If the car dies, the alternator is bad

^^So I guess a battery that doesn't function would kill the alternator too? That makes no sense. When the car is running, the alternator is giving it power, the only function the battery serves is to hold a charge so that the car is able to start. People have been doing this simple test forever to find out if their alt is bad or not. The only thing bad about this is that it doesn't take much to KEEP the car running, so if your alternator is weak, but still working somewhat, this won't work. Although, after reading your thread it seems like your alternator has already gone on you.
