I'm trying to disassemble a throttle body, and I've gotten it most the way apart. Butterfly is out, cruise and throttle cables are off, just the shaft remains. How am I supposed to get the shaft out?? It's stuck in there pretty good, and if I beat on it with a hammer, it slowly comes out. But there has to be a better way, beating on it with a hammer doesn't seem right. It still rotates freely, so it's not getting super stuck on something. Are there bearings that should come out or something else that needs to be removed?
A little help please!

don't take out the shaft.. there is a bearing pressed on to it.. just remove the brass disk and make sure you use lock-tight or fingernail polish.. when you put the 2 screws on the shaft..

That brass disc is pressed in there really firmly, what's the best way to remove that? I see the bearing pressed in the one end, so do I take the disc out of the other side?
I'm trying to bore out the TB, so I'm assuming once I get the brass disc out the rest of the shaft will follow?

do not bore out the space where the disk sits on or you car will idle funny and in some cases to high.. you want to bore it in the front and the back side of the TB. when you look in to the front of the TB you should see that beveled lip that goes kind of like a slant. you want to take that down do not mess with the area around the center of the TB..

Even though I'm planning on making a new butterfly and extending the slot on the valve? The machine shop guy thought it wouldn't be a problem at all.

But you're recommending bore everything else down around that? What kind of angle and what kind of slant?

And is there any way to get the shaft out at all? I have a spare TB so I don't mind if I ruin one trying it.

Actually a proper boring would mess with that, but then you need a new butterfly valve.

What are you boring it with and where are you getting an oversized butterfly?

Oh ok so your going to do all of that.. then just make sure you press out the shaft and not beat it with a hammer..

I can't press the bearing out from the back and it's sorta impossible to remove it from the front, so what's the best way to remove it? Is there a special tool or something? Or am I just supposed to press the bearing out?

CAJ, I'm having a machine shop do it all for me. If it all goes well, I'll start selling them using the extra I take out of my car.
