Shifter is different from early 2nd gen models to late models, different part numbers for the B&M shifter, etc. Even a different colored plastic base to it.

Is there any proof? I'll have to check tomorrow, but do you have any evidence of this, this is the first time I've heard about this,...

Apparently so,... but I have NEVER seen an RD2 have a white base plate.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (TibRacer01)</div><div class='quotemain'>I have a 2001 with a 2 bolt flange after the flex pipe.</div>
00's were not Cali emmisions, but 01's were, hence the 2nd Cat. 00's only had the one Cat by the exhaust manifold. Hence like the 98's and 99's
The 00's sounded a little more "growlier" stock too, because of the 1 less Cat.

The Spoiler thing might be US only. We still had options of no spoiler, the Base spoiler, or the Type R spoiler in both years up here in Canada.

And yes, different shifters, mainly double syncros in the VERY late 00's and 01's. Shifts were WAY smoother.

I'm also interested in the paint strip. Some tiburons have the line going from the corner turn signal to the back... know what I'm talking about? My 2000 didn't come with the strip

Oh, the pin stripping.
I think those were dealer installed. We NEVER had that OEM on ANY of the cars, must be an american thing,.. smile.gif

When I bought my 01, it had a silver pin stripe on it. But, as discussed before, they were dealer installed.

BTW, that was one of the very first mods I did to my car was to remove the pin stripe.

I know this is an old thread but... just to clairify some things....

There are no interior differences. It's just different people measured it, or someone corrected an error in specs.

The 01 DOES have a different 4th 5th gear than the 97-00 2.0L
The 97-00 2.0L has a 1.031 4th and a 0.825 5th gear
the 01 2.0L has a .061 4th and a 0.878 5th gear (same as 1.8L trannies)

That would explain the fuel economy differences. Well, and the added drag from the spoiler!tongue.gif:
