Hi!
Little question for you Guys!
I have a tib RD1 and I swap for a RD2 dash kit.
I know that there is some difference between those.
Rear wiper plug, Defrost plug and Cruise control plug.
For the rear wiper, I don't care, because I shaved it, the defrost to, because I don't take the Tib in winter, but I want the cruise control.
Do you guys Know How can I make it functional... Swap pin in the plug or something like that....
Thanks for your tips.
Pat

You should be able to just splice the connector in or something. Its been done by a few people. Might want to track them down. Zoned maybe? I dont remember

I know Blacktibs compleatly changed out his wiring harness from RD1 too RD2 to help make the change to the dash.. personally, I think if you are good with soldering and heatwrapping, just replacing the plugs to the switches would be the easiest and best way to do it.
I would NOT use crimp fittings. While I am sure they would work, they are just something to go wrong at the worst possible time

I'm still going to do this someday..I've collected about half of an RD2 dash over the years so far..
Basically, the best way I've thought to do it, is to just take each switch, get a multimeter, and figure out which wire goes where, and resolder each connection. It really wouldn't take that long, there's only like 4 wires per switch..
But people try to sell an RD2 dash for like $100+ on here...and I'm cheap...
I will write about my experiences someday when I do it

You know, you could just hard wire the cruise. I mean, if you think about it, do you ever really push or utilize that button anyway? You can control whether the cruise is set or not by the button on the windshield wipers, why do you need to turn the circuit on/off? Seems pointless to me.
You could just leave the RD1 cruise switch connected and pushed in (on), tuck it behind the dash, and put the RD2 dash on with the cruise switch in place. The cruise will never be off, but do you ever really need it off? Like I said, you can control it by the secondary switch. It would be the same as just clicking the switch in and forgetting about it...which is what I do anyway.
