Crank and cam polishing
I have heard the words before with engine builders. Is it just smoothing out imperfections in the cam and crank? I have a 1.8 cam waiting to go in my tib. Would it be worthwhile to send it somewhere to be polished before installing it?

a 1.8 intake cam is a whole 'nuther ball park than the ones folks benefit from polishing. The bearing surfaces should be shiny, the lobes should be shiny, or else you shouldn't be considering this cam.
