Clicky Clicky Not Good Sound.

i was looking at cars at the car dealership down the street, hopped out to look at a genesis, hopped back in (left car running) and pushed the clutch in to start going. the clutch started clicking, and with this i could hear it also. now it mostly happens if i hold the clutch in to coast etc... I recently changed my driver side axle and havent gotten around to refilling the gear lube, but i havent noticed anything unusual until now. Does anyone have any ideas as what could cause this?

What the hell kinda of mechanic are you? whould you run your car without oil in the engine? That clicking sound is most likely turning your transmission into a fused chunk of metal.

havent gotten around to filling the gear lube..... wtf... prob lost alot when you changed the axle... but it doesn't sound like the problem to me, but it could be..
its it an internal/external clicking sound? more of a rubbing sound? where is it coming from? how loud?

If you get the gear oil filled up IMMEDIATELY you MIGHT be okay. There are lots of moving parts above the axle that really, really, really need lubricated.

Wow fail. Even non-synthetic generic GL4 would be better than nothing.
Congratulations, you may have ruined your transaxle.
Well, at least you already know how to pull the shafts . . . you may need to do it again, soon.
It *could* be a bad throwout bearing or something clutch related, but in light of the lack of oil in the gearbox I wouldn't bet on it.

yes i know it was a stupid mistake, and i've learned from it. i put some gear lube in just now, and we'll see how it drives a little later. for the record, i didnt lose much oil from switching my axle so there was still a good amount in there. i really hope its not my tranny.

i took a roll around my neighborhood and the clicking was gone. i dont know if i just didnt drive it enough for it to start happening, but i couple of the guys at oreillys were thinking it was the throwout bearing too when i was describing it when i was buying the gear lube. we'll see.
