Ok so I deliver pizzas and i was walking to the door to deliver and when i came back my CEL was on in my 2001 Tib. So the next day rolls around (today, Friday) and i go get my White 17" Motegi RT-5's put on (will have pics soon) and I am backing out of the parking lot and when I stop I hear a thud. My dad gets out and looks and it was my brake pad (it fell off) from the back right wheel. On the way home going about 10mph we stop at 2 auto shops and they both say it has to wait till monday. I still need to figure out what the CEL is on for and I understand AutoZone checks for free? I was wondering if the brake problem could have anything to do with the CEL light? Can the CEL light come on from the oil level even thought it doesn't seem low? Or even something with the wheels, because the day the light came one, I replaced my 2 front tires on my stock rims.

All this crap happening at the same time sux.
Thanks for your help.

Default CEL just came on...

uh... your brake pad FELL OFF?

I don't think that will throw any CEL codes, but I could be wrong.
Take it to autozone. They'll hook up the OBD-II sensor and check it within 10 seconds

Yeah, Autozone will do it for free.

If you need to look up any codes, go here:

yea it fell off the glue on the back just gave and the plate/pad fell to the ground.
Once i get my brakes fixed i will take it to autozone because the closest one is 15mins away.
I am going to rinse of my car and then take some pics.
Thanks

If you have ABS it might be a code related to that.... but that's the only thing I can think of.

I believe our cars had 5 package levels. ABS came with package 5 (everything). Package 4 had the Sunroof, fog lights, CD Player, etc. so if you don't have all that then you don't have ABS. If you do have all that, you still might not have ABS lol.gif

I'm not sure what the official package levels were, but my car has every option except ABS. The easiest way to check is to look for the sensor and wires around the wheel, or check your fuse box and see if you have a fuse in the ABS spot.

yup. mine didn't have one in the ABS slot (it's the fuse box in the car, not under the hood)

i had thought it was just left out or over looked..... so i put a 10A in there and they still lock up. easiest way to check.

if there's no fuse, there's no ABS. doesn't get any easier than that. laugh.gif
