Please follow our forum rules and try to type in a manner where folks can understand what you are asking about. Yes, it's the internet, but punctuation and format are important, considering we are trying to convey ideas via text.

You would fix the problem you have by...

1. Putting a high flow cat on your car. Do the environment and our future a favor and help the polution stay low.

2. Pull the evap cannister valve and check it out. Instructions are on HMAService.com about how to do it, and most likely how to trouble shoot it also. Best thing to do would be to post the actual CODE # here so we can help you.

after not replying to your introduction at all, your second post and you make a thread about a problem with your car. and if we respond we'll get no replys again? you don't know about evap codes and ya expect us to know what CCV stands for?

are you from this country? why don't you try answering some questions to your introductory post first before you create these threads. you have 8 responses. it would help ALOT. in the meantime, school's over man wake up!!

couple spelling mistakes and he gets ripped.

and HKC, he said what it meant in his post. find the words that have CCV in a row....(Cannister Control Valve).

now. HOW BOUT SOME HELPFUL INFORMATION??

Your CEL was P0466 correct?

THE FOLLOWING WAS TAKEN FROM WEBTECH:

The evaporative system reduces hydrocarbon emissions by trapping fuel tank vapors until they can be burned as part of the incoming fuel charge. Evaporating fuel is stored in a charcoal canister until it can be flushed into the intake manifold.

The evaporative control system is made up of the following components:

*Fuel tank that can be completely sealed from outside air
*Differential Pressure Sensor (DPS
*Fuel/vapor separator that only allows vapor to enter the canister
*Canister Close Valve (CCV) that seals the canister from the outside air
*Canister filled with activated charcoal granules
*Purge Control Solenoid Valve (PCSV)

In normal operation, the purge control valve opens and closes, depending on throttle angle and intake manifold vacuum. When it opens, fuel vapors are flushed from the canister and drawn into the intake manifold. To avoid a vacuum build-up in the canister, the CCV is normally held open to allow fresh air to replace the vapors drawn into the intake manifold. During the evaporative emissions system self-test, the CCV is closed along with the PCSV to seal off the system from the atmosphere.

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%">FAILURE CONDITIONS</span>

If the CCV is stuck closed during two back-to-back trips, this code will be set and the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) will be turned on. The DPS will indicate the system has not released the vacuum created during the self-test.

Details:

This code will be triggered if the following conditions are met:

*DPS indicates a vacuum greater than -8 hPa (-6 hPa, Tiburon) [DPS voltage lower than 1.86 volts (2.02 volts, Tiburon)] at the start of the evaporative emission self-test
*Engine idling
*Vehicle not moving
*Engine temperature at start-up greater than 19.4°F (-7°C)
*Altitude less than 8,000 ft
*Fuel tank pressure less than 11.9 hPa (3.45 volts) [2 hPa (2.66 volts), Accent]
*Fuel tank at least 15% full
*Engine has been running for at least 16 minutes, 40 seconds

<span style="color:#FF6666">NOTE</span>
Water or other debris in the line between the PCSV and canister can also set this code. To clear lines of debris, blow compressed air through them.

and... after reading that, just incase it was P0447

He didn't get ripped. I asked him to follow the site rules and gave him some tips on how to get helpful answers here.

I also gave him a few ideas on how to fix his car, and asked for the CEL # mang.

HKC did have a point, if you don't come and answer the questions asked to you, why would anyone answer more?

hah mang in english and text editing and books and paragraphs you abreviate only after you've wrote it all out beforehand. aye mamosita! monkey1.gif alright man, we'll let it slip but please beef it up a little.

why don't you have a catalytic converter?! that would cause freaky CEL's to light up anyways. no point in fixing a code in the wrong order. get a catalytic, hook up the sensors, then reset your computer. if the CCV code pops up, check your cannister because it might have leaks. also your car might have a recall so you might be ablke to get it fixed for free through the dealership.

webtech is like our bible. always refer to it. sparty's SEARS predecessors created it.
