yes thats what me and my dad were just discussing. where are thos sensors located? one thing i thought about was I put in the 1.8 cam. maybe I could have messed something up? yes i have my old ecm and the junkyard one i picked up. they said it worked. im guessing the cam position sensor may be my problem

Trust me, having it not run is better then it running bad..
Youll figure it out..doesnt seem like anything that will be difficult to solve. Remember..your car's not possessed lol

OK heres what I did tonight so far. I took both sensors out. I tested resistance between pin 1 and 2 of the crank sensor. it was supposed to be within .4something and .569 kOHMS. it was .89. Does this mean its bad? it is such a small number but it seems like the specified range is very precise. Also checked the cam sensor the only way I could find, at the connector. Now it should be getting around 5 volts. It isnt getting any. I have put in a different ECU. I will try my old one again but im pretty sure Ill see the same thing.
Are the cam position sensor and crank sensor the same thing? I ask because they look identical and have the same connector. The cam position sensor does not have Hyundai/kia markings on it, telling me it may have been replaced. Also, the pin 1 and 2 resistance of the crankshaft is nowhere near what it is in the cam sensor, I have unlimited resistance in the cam sensor on those pins. Im not sure if it matters any but I tried it
I also checked Pin 44 off of the ECU which is supposed to send 5 volts to the Cam postition sensor. I got nothing there as far as voltage. Any way to check if the ECU is good? Otherwise Im guessing maybe a bad ground somewhere or something not allowing the voltage to flow.
ECU fuse is good, just checked. Im lost
bump? im open to any ideas

will do tomorrow as soon as i wake up
Ok i went out and checked those. First, I dont have a pin 56. Not sure why, but there is no wire there and I didnt mess with it. I then check pin 86 and got no voltage. So I think we may be onto something here.
OK now i put in my old ecu and i do get voltage at pin 86. with the other ecu i got 0.00V and now I get about .15V. Not sure if thats enough but it is something.

Alright I think im going to be taking the car back to the shop where I got my piping done. Hes going to hopefully help me out. He is a dsm expert but i think he can help me. I thought about bringing it to the dealership but i think it would cost to much and i just dont have money for it. anyways, anything else i should look for would be great. i jsut dont know how something could have got messed up to the point where even with all the stock wiring back in it, it wont start. open to any ideas...
