That $hit cant happen with like a mud puddle splashing water on it right? it has to be like submerged right? cuz that would suck to go over a mud puddle and have to get a new engine. oh and sorry about your car man i hope it turns out ok.

Get your oil changed, put some B12 Chemtool in your gas, clean everything really good and get a lube job.

alex, 00, just learn from his experience and you wont ever have to deal w/ this problem.
alex, the air filter has to be COMPLETELY SUBMERGED for this to happen.....so hitting a puddle is not likely cover your entire filter, w/ water or mud, but if you get mud on it replace it or clean it ASAP.

I would seriously consider taking it to the dealer AFTER you put a factory intake system back in and say "my engine seems to be running really rough, can you look at it? It started doing it while it was raining, and then the car just stalled when I pulled into a parking spot and wouldn't start again. After a good 1 1/2 hours it finally did, and ran very rough afterwards."
Act stupid, like you don't even know what a CAI is. remove everything you have performance wise (even strut bars). Return it to completely stock if possible.

DUDE! That so sucks a$$. The car is still running but making a funny noise huh? I personally would change out everything that I could get my hands on from oil/oil filter to spark plugs to the fuel filter and so on. You probably could use a change out anyways of this stuff. Have you considered dropping your exhaust mani to check for any residual water left over? I know it's after the problem but the steam from any heated water could flow backwards and I'd imagine that can't be too good. How about maybe just taking the old skool approach and... "opening the SOB up and taking a good look"?
