Auto Express Used Car Buyer's Guide - Hyundai Coupe/Tiburon
Auto Express is the UK's best-selling weekly car magazine. Each week it features a Used Car Buyer's Guide giving potential buyers a heads up on what they are letting themselves in for, and what they should look out for, when considering buying this particular week's featured model.
So what did this weeks' Auto Express (12-18 October) Used Car Buyer's Guide think about the 2002/09 Hyundai Coupe/Tiburon? Just read....
"Even today the car manages to turn heads... the Coupe has a reputation for reliability and low running costs that exotic Italians can only dream of... you also benefit from surprisingly engaging driving dynamics... throw in a healthy dose of practicality and it's no wonder that many Coupe owners hold on to their cars for years..."
And finally... "Impressively, despite the Coupe having been in production for nearly a decade, it has yet to be the subject of any recalls. Even the two Generations of Coupe before this one - dating way back to 1996 - have yet to be called back for any mechanical faults..."
Is that a smug look I spy upon your face right now?

(I apologize in advance for shitting all over your parade)
Exhaust manifolds were recalled on specific RD models in the USA for cracking.

^One small manifold crack on a few models, a voluntary evap solenoid valve replacement, and voluntary gas cap replacement on a struggling company all backed by the best warranty 15 years ago is bad? These put their more expensive competitors records to shame. And U.S. cars today have had worse recalls.
I always argue that some Tiburon owners make Ferraris out of their ZX2's. Maybe its unique design gives that illusion.

Nobody said it was a bad thing...
I just remember there being some recalls. It was more of a check to see if a crack was present and if was then it got replaced..

It’s interesting that some people think there may at some point have been official Hyundai (Tiburon) Coupe recalls. In order to try and spread a little more light on the issue, I did some further investigation.
Usedcarexpert.co.uk is a UK site that specialises in supplying information on particular areas to check on every used model available in the UK, and also supplies information on any manufacturer recalls for a particular model.
Usedcarexpert.co.uk reports:
UK Recall History of Hyundai (Tiburon) Coupe RD (1996 - 2002):
There have been no officially reported recalls on this Hyundai (Tiburon) Coupe.
UK Recall History of Hyundai (Tiburon) Coupe GK (2003 - Present):
There have been no officially reported recalls on this Hyundai (Tiburon) Coupe.
Usedcarexpert.co.uk appears to confirm the report printed in Auto Express. However, this does not deny that at some point there may have been official Hyundai letters inviting particular owners to take their vehicles to a dealership for an investigation into something identified as a “potential problem” which it seems did not develop into a later official recall in the UK.
