I have a 97 Tiburon and last week as i was putting gas in the car, some gas was spilling onto the ground. My gas gauge has also been acting strange also. One minute ill have over half a tank and the other minute she's on empty, but there is still lots of gas in the tank.

Now my question is, could this be related to the recall that tiburons have had in relation to the gas tank? or does it sound more like a filler neck problem?

I called the local dealership today, but i didnt have my serial number as the car is parked across town, so i have to call back tomorrow.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Thanks.

Yeah, i have a 2000 and as mine tops off, a little bit of gas shoots out of the top and down the side of my car. Ive tryed different stations and different ways to put the nozel in. "this time ill only put it in 1/2 way" "CRAP!! AGAIN!?!"... i know how you feel. but its not part of the recall list that i got offline. all i got was seat belts and exhaust manifold issues....

^^ The gas was spilling from under the car, not the side.

The 97 Tibs defently had a recall on the tank.Mine was never leaking but i had it changed in 99..

Its a free checkup... if you have Hyundai dealership near you, just take it in.

I'm going to have to call in and check to see if mine has been done. The closest Hyundai dealer is 80 miles.
