The new ECU that BSE is selling pops us up like 13 HP.

I read from people who apparently know their business in the UK forums that the F2 Evo had the 1.8 cam, not anything special (for marketing reasons though, Hyundai UK might have marked it with a diff part number).

Consider this: Our cars have one of the most restrictive air admission, just removing the intake resonator and putting a Cai or even a short ram intake can release some HP. The F2 Evo had a different exhaust, with larger piping and an MSD muffler less restrictive, add the "breathing" mods and the cam, and there you have your gains.

What I read is that there was a lot of talking on the begining that the ECU had been modified, but at the end they figured it out they didn't.

I am not sure either that the F2 EVO in fact has the 154 advertised, if it had lets say 151 and not 154, would you beleive you can get 13 crank HP from intake-exhaust-cam? I do beleive it's possible, don't forget it's the first HPs which are easier to gain, as much as you go up, each of the following is more difficult.

Also, remember that in Korea and Europe (actually everywhere in the world but USA and Canada) they use the Siemens Ecu with no OBDII nor the emission regulations you have guys, so there could be a few ponies too.

i/h/e will net you around 15-20hp. 138 + 15=153

Eh close enough.

The Type-R has around that and I KNOW that they have a more powerful exhaust made by a manufacturer for Aston Martin. I'm pretty sure the cam they used in the Type-R is the 1.8l cam.

Keep in mind that these numbers are rated to the crank, not the wheel. Modifications that we do are judged by wheel horsepower... manufacturers use crank to make it look more powerful than it is... and I think thats the only reason.

Base = 140 CRANK HP
F2 = 154 CRANK HP

14 CRANK HP really isn't that hard to achieve. I really don't think the 1.8 gives that much on the topend... their ECU may be slightly more aggressive me thinks since its performance model.

Does a cam need tuning? Yes... if you want to use it to its full potential.

Is the 1.8L cam worth tuning alone? No.. get some more mods and tune them all at once. Theres no point of paying 100+ on tuning for an hour just for 5whp.

Is the F2, type r, or 1.8L cam worth converting ecus? No... slam your head against the keyboard and rethink this scenario.

Civic Type R... That engine is an NA engine... they get a lot of HP off of NA mods... Honda technology is more advanced than hyundais, which is why they gain more power.

Also that "chip" from BSE,... i dont think i remember seeing that chip on the RD tiburon part list.

Please remember, the 1.8L was only slightly more aggresive. Dont get too excited guys.

Whether the 1.8L cam is the same as the F2 cam, ive heard rumors of that as well, yet ive never seen specs for the f2 cam or the type R cam.

^ that's exactly how it is. couldn't have said it better hamhead and Zman the F2 EVO uses the 1.8L cam. and no one cam on a 2.0 doesn't add 15hp! the EVO is a bit modified. larger exhaust and tuned ECU. i'd like one if the steering wheel wasn't on the other side.

there is no other cam for us for now besides the ones we've already heard of.

It's not a chip, it's an ecu.

Also, they have 1998 - 2001 Elantra on the list, we use the same ECU, so yeah, we are covered.

Redz, I'll post @ Kspec's forum tonite.

I guess we can only count on someone from another country to give us an answer on the cams. All I know is, if the cam can give 14 Crank HP without other NA mods, it should do better with them. That's a good yielding, realible investment (Just the kind I like)

Wish I knew whether its just a rebadged 1.8L Cam or not.

Dude, why don't you wait for Rick to get his shit together, and then get in on the intake cam + ecu from RE. That's a DYNOED 15 HP to the WHEELS. And will cost you probably as much as having the F2 cam (assuming it's not just the 1.8) imported.
