I have a decently lopey idle after my cam install, I also changed my plug wires when I did it but I switched those back out to see if that was causing it.
It sounds like its missing when it's idling, no CEL's, but it does sounds like a car with a cam in it, once it's going theres no sign of a miss at all. I've been driving like this for awhile and it seems to be fine.
I didn't think these would change the idle sound that much, so maybe I did something wrong?

The 1.8 won't lope your idle.
Did you reset your ECU afterwards?
Are you 100% positive you got your timing right when installed?

I was positive but now am questioning myself so I'll rip her apart and double check everything.
and yes I reset my ECU.
If the timing was correct both arrows would line up and the # of links (like in the DIY) in the chain would be correct, right?

What arrows?
Timing is correct when your cam gear marks are even with the surface of the HEAD, not the floor, and your cams are installed correctly. I believe there was a little indent on each cam that goes straight up, not in relation to the floor, but to the head, and there is supposed to be 4 or 5 links (can't remember which is correct) between the indents.
