hate to tell you guys this, but the same dumb ass working at the Jiffy lube is also working at the dealership. Do you think a certified mechanic changes your oil at the dealership? Nope! Just some stupid kid who has no clue earning minimum wage. (I know this for a fact, when I was 17 I was that stupid kid).

If you want to be sure nothing bad happens to your car, do the work yourself.

BTW - I saw more stupid things happen at the dealership than I ever did at the quick change oil place. If you must go to a quick change place, go between 8am and 5 pm. That's when the FULL time, **edit SOMEWHAT competent employees are working. Any other time it's just kids.

just my 2 cents

and this guy was trained by one of THE top Hyundai techs in the world, that happens to work at the dealership i purchased my car from.

i am often in the dealer bays watching the guys work, they are all certified.

I agree. For every 3 guys there is 1 certified Hyundai mechanic. They did work on the other Tiburon and forgot to put the interior panel of the sunroof back on!!! It was just bare metal from the inside when they gave it back. How can you forget to do that??????????? On top of it, the sunroof had a HUGE key scratch on it which wasn't like that before. They tried to say it was already like that!! And that was under warranty. What a disgrace. I don't even want to know what else they forget to do, that was the last time I did business with the dealer.

They charged an old lady to put her newly purchased windshield wipers on, in front of me.

Totally disagree with what? I've worked in both quick lubes AND a dealership....... I've seen this first hand.

The tech you know that was trained by one of THE top Hyundai techs in the world, does he do oil changes all day? I highly doubt it.

Some dealership have a limited number of mechanics on site to save $$$, and the rest of the people working on the cars are just technicians or apprentices and the mechanics over-see their work. The people doing the oil changes are not certified in any way and are probably making minimum wage.
