Default what's wrong with my alarm??

someone please help!

i have a 2000 tib and i was foolin around with the alarm. i pushed the two little buttons on the alarm remote lots of times and then the little red light behind the steering wheel went on, and stayed on, for around 2 months now. the alarm doesn't make sounds anymore but it locks/unlocks the doors. i'm afraid that since it doesn't make a noise when i lock the car, it won't make a noise when some guy tries to jack my car. have i broken my alarm system??? is there a sequence on my alarm remote i can press to make it make noises again???

You turned on the VALET mode. Read in your manual as to how to turn it off. Or ask your dealer..tell them the alarm is broken..they will reset it for free.

Valet mode is a wonderful thing. But yeah, I agree with Random, that's what it sounds like. On my crimeguard alarm there's a hidden switch that I use to turn it off. There's also a sequence I can do on the transmitter to turn it on and off.

Easist way to test if the siren is working it to try panic mode, if you have it. On most alarms, you get it by holding down the big button. Another way is to pop the trunk with the key when the alarm is armed (or when you think it is)

Good luck.
a

side note: my alarm is weirdly sensitive. You practically have to yank off the door handle to set it off, but if you tap the windshield, it goes off.

Yeap it's in valet. Take it to the dealer if you don't have time to do that and you don't have your manual disconnect your possitive battery terminal leave it off for 30 sec. and reconnect and the alarm will reprogram but be prepared it will start screaming as soon as you hook the power back up and you will also have to reprogram your radio and clock. As far as the sensitivity problem goes the best place for the shock sensor on a Tib is in the middle consol under the heater ducts that go to underneat the seats I gaurantee if you move it there it will pick up all impact from any point of the car.

i tried unplugging the positive cable from my batter. the clock got reset, the radio got reset, but the alarm still doesn't work.

i have a pair of alarm remotes, but one of them doesn't work at all. the other one just locks and unlocks the doors. i looked at the index of my car's manual and didn't find anything relating to the alarm system. i think i did a sequence with my remote that activated valet mode. does anyone know a sequence i can do that will deactivate it???

Well I'm surprised that disconnecting the battery didn't work, did you wait for at least 30 seconds? Well here is another way to go your alarm (as are all alarms for hyundai) is a clifford go to their web site www.clifford.com (I think thats right) or call the nearest Circuit City even though I know we stopped carring them they might still have the tech support number call or e-mail them and you should be set. Sorry about the battery not working but usually that always works for me hhmmmmmm.
