Transmission swap for 1997 Tiburon
I bought my car in 1999 and I have no regrets. Since I have entered into the car scene things have changed. I would like to know how I would go about swapping out my automatic transmission for a manual transmission. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

It has been done before, but it is not easy or cheap. The only person to have accomplished it, it cost $895 and about 20 hours of labor (which was free).
It would cost close to $2000 for the parts and the labor for the swapout. Contact Speedblind, he is the forum member who has done the swap.

Yes it can be done, cause I did it! However, I had a very good and reliable hook up to do up the labor, most of the cost for me was parts. You may want to really consider doing this swap to your car, especially if you are going to sell it later on. Although I have had no major problems other than a CEL (code: main ECU not detecting the piggy-back auto tranny ECU) I don't recommend this as a mod to be considering, unless you have paid off the car (you might need the $$$ for unexpected repairs if swap fails)and don't ever want to sell it (may be hard to sell off due to swap).
I have many future plans for my car and I am not ever going to sell it!
