Default Tools, 6 sided vs 12 sided sockets

Doing the 5speed swap so finally brought a decent tool set, I got a 1/2 socket drive set.. The sockets that came with it are 12 sided.. but now I keep hearing that 6 sided are best for grip

Are 12sided sockets that bad? Is it only the cheap ones?

Basically I want to hear that they are fine

6-sided are better. Less chance of rounding corners off bolts. You can use them, just be aware of that fact...

I've only ever rounded one nut using 12 sided spanners, I don't even own 6 sided spanners. I've used em for crank pulleys, exhaust bolts, hub nuts, whatever. I don't think it would be a big problem dude.

Six point grip better, but 12 point are easier to get on the bolt in hard to get to places.

I've rounded off several bolts with 12 point sockets. I've only done it when the angle wasn't very good and I couldn't really see what I was doing. But it happened often enough that I only use 6 point now. I reserve the 12 point sockets for 12 point bolts.
