Lol @ running Royal Purple and a Fram. Opposite ends of the spectrum there.
I've had great luck with WIX filters also. I will only run WIX or OEM. A friend of mine's Elantra still had issues with a K&N. I've never run a K&N.

Haha well shows how much i know, i always thought fram was a good brand... must have been pulled in by the grip lol. Well i picked up a K&N, popped off the fram, and put on the new filter. Ran it for a bit, and the ticking noise is gone... for now. After all of it was done all i could hear was my fuel injectors clicking so i think im in good shape. Thanks for the quick responses guys!

OEM all the way. Hyundai filters are extremely high quality. I heard someone ripped one opened and commented how the filter build and filter media was better than Mobil 1 and K and N.

Today i drove my car for a little while, and the ticking came back... So could it be the oil? or is there possibly something wrong with my oil pump? every once in a while my car has a hard start and the oil light comes on for a second but goes off as soon as the car starts. This is just frustrating and i really dont want to ruin my valves and what not. Any other input?

Next step is using an OEM filter. I continue to be amazed how many people don't want to use it, just because it is the OEM part. You might also want to half-fill that OEM filter with a bit of Marvel Mystery Oil. If that doesn't make the ticking stay away, then the following applies:
********
During starting is when you will have the least oil pressure. If the light goes out immediately you will probably be fine. If you can arrange it, run an oil pressure test. If you do have low oil pressure the problem is more likely to be the bottom-end bearings than the oil pump. This qualifies as a Major Repair to fix, but it is possible to DIY. It is also possible you have failing hydraulic lash adjusters and the oil pressure is fine. They are much easier to DIY but well over $100 in parts alone.
Before you go swapping out any parts, when is the last time you ran an oil flush through the engine before an oil change? If "never" then it is time. Go get 5 quarts of Mobil 1 synthetic 10W30 and an OEM filter (that is: a known-good quality combination), and any bottle off the local non-Autozone auto parts store shelf labeled for use as an engine oil crankcase flush cleaner type deal. Follow the directions on the bottle EXACTLY, let ALL the black tar that was oil drain out, and then refill, and use the OEM filter.
If the flush doesn't get it done, and you can come up with a set of circumstances where it "always" ticks, then troubleshooting can begin. That is, it always does it at cold start for 1 minute, or it always does it after driving for 10 minutes, or it always does it when the moon is waxing full, whatever makes it always happen.

After driving my car around for about an hour or so, i had stopped at the store to get something and when i got back to my car and started it the ticking was back. I let it sit for about 30-45 seconds and. It hasnt done this since thursday, so maybe it is the full moon like stocker said haha.
