Default Opinions on various mods

OK, since I have several questions covering different mods, I think it's safe to post it here.

First off, has anyone tried those HID wannabe lights from SharkRacing? If so, do they look authentic (or close), did they improve vision, and last, do they blind oncoming traffic?

Clear corners.....are they legal if you keep the amber bulbs?

Lowering the car. If I drop my 01 Tib 1.2 to 1.75 inches, will my tires rub. Will it look gay dropping a car with stock rims (I plan on keeping them stock for some time to come)?

Which decks are you guys using out there that have an auxiliary input for an iPod??

I think that's all I can think of now.

I own the Shark Racing xenon lights, and I noticed a difference. They are brighter than stock, but they are not close to HID... nothing is, except for... well... HID. I don't blind traffic, but my friends call them "Tokyo Xtreme Racer lights" because they say it looks like the headlights from that game on PS2. I have the light blue lights, they appear VERY WHITE, not much blue to it at all, and because of that I haven't had one run in with the cops about them. For the price, they are good.

If you get clear corners and use the amber bulbs, well, you would have to check your local laws, but I don't any reason why a cop would pull you over. There's probably more than a handful of people on this board that have clear corners and white bulbs and still haven't been pulled over for them.

The springs... well... Josh or Random will get to this topic with a good answer... but someone might have a picture of a dropped car on stock wheels so you could get an idea of how it would look, you might want to search the exterior board for that.

For the CD player, RubenZ recently found sucess with this deck. Fairly cheap for all the features it has, and I think it looks cool too.

Oh, and iPods rule, don't they? wink

Well, first answer...

Clear Corners = Illegal. UNLESS, you add a strip of AMBER reflective plastic, 1 inch by 3 inches, somewhere in front of the front edge edge of each door. People that think that the amber bulb makes them legal are wrong. The amber bulb reflects off the back of the clear corners and makes it look like you have the reflective piece in there. If you don't get a ticket, either the cop is stupid, or just didn't pay that close attention to it. All the info you'd ever want on lenses and such here...

But I am getting them.

IPOD? How muchie for how much space? Nahhh, go get a Nomad Jukebox 3, or the Rio Riot. Anywhere from 20 to 60 GIG's are available for under $500. Some as cheap as $200 if you look. If you already have the IPOD, take a look at the Pioneer 8400MP, and some of the newer Alpines. Take a look at Crutchfield.com .

The new Elantras have a amber bulb, but no amber reflective plastic. When the lights aren't on, it looks like a clear corner, until you notice the colour of the bulb as is comes through the casing. This is the same crap I tried to remove from my Accent headlight housing to no avail.

I already have the iPod, it's the 20 gig model, it ran me $450. I have the choice of getting an adapter for my sony deck that uses the cd changer link ($100) or buy a new deck with an aux input, I prefer to get a new deck.

My wife drives an 01 Elantra, I'll have to check out her "corners" later tonight.

Still curious about the rims

Thanks everyone for the input.

The new Elantras do have clear corners but there's also an amber strip on the front side of the car.

hahaahah

I had a cop say my stock exhaust was illegal

And exmained every bulb in my car, pointing out that the blueish hid looking bulbs I had were illegal

He did not say one word about my clears.

goes to show cops ae stupid they have no business enforcing the law in some areas, they dont know enough.

I dont blame them. I dont think they should be ****ing with traffic laws at all.

They need to go stop that man from murdering my dog.
