Default Oil cooler

So, I bought a small fluid cooler intending to use it as an oil cooler. It has 4AN fittings. My sandwich plate has 8AN fittings. Is 4AN too small for an oil cooler? I don't want to restrict the flow. I went with a small cooler so that I can run it all year without an oil thermostat. If I have a full size cooler I think the oil wouldn't ever get up to a good temp on the little 1.6l.

Ugh...I am tempted to just do this right with a full sized cooler and a thermostat. Only problem is the oil cooler thermostats are fairly expensive. Maybe I;ll just install a bypass valve and switch it on/off manually.

Any experience with oil coolers?

This is the unit I have

You won't have any problems getting the oil to operating temp with any cooler as long as you're using the correct viscosity. Personally, I would put a switchable fan on it for race day.

I'm not really sure if 1/8" would be a problem, but I typically see -6 and bigger.

I plan to run the B&M cooler with temp switched fan, but it costs $210.

I've read that it would not heat the oil up enough, but no personal experience so don't know what to think. Most of the year I wouldn't be concerned, but when it's single digits here I was thinking it could be a real problem.
