If someone swaps their engine for a different company....
do you still consider it a Hyundai?
Example...people in Thailand and other countries have done extreme modifications and swapped their beta engines out for SR20s, 4G63s, etc. When a person does this, do you still consider it a Hyundai or something else? In my opinion, the engine is what makes the car. If you transplant something different in it, then the car is no longer what its supposed to be. Who else feels the same?

I consider it a Hyundai, but the recognition at this point should go completely to the builder/tuner not the car itself.
If someone made a Hyundai engine produce a 10.0 1/4 or 800hp daily driver, both the tuner and Hyundai should be recognized.

The Chassis is what names the car. The Tuner is who makes the car better. A Elantra will always be a Elantra. If you weld 60% of a Tiburon to a Civic and it looks more like a Civic, then by law it is a civic. The Engine is what propels the car. The chassis is what gives it a recognizable classifiction.

I still consider it a hyundai, but at the same time I'm not giving as much credit as i would to someone who built their beta block up.
Everyone knows that a sr20 or 4g63t can produce mass hp, its been proven many times.
With the (lack of) aftermarket support that betas have compared to either of those motors, i see it as more of a challenge and accomplishment to get the same numbers off a beta block, especially since our cars have no pnp tuning options that are feasible. It makes the "brain power" stand out more. Instead these guys are just dropping a proven motor in, plugging in a tuner and driving away with 10/11sec "car".
I'll give them respect cause it takes quite a bit of fab work to get them in our engine bay, but it seems like they should have just bought an eclipse or a s13 in the first place.

The chasis is the heart. The engine is one of the many systems/parts of a car. Like the wheels, body, seats, steering wheel. Just because it adds more power to the car does not make it the heart. It's not alive.

I have witnessed in many car forums people complaining about this and i don't see why truthfully. there are a slew of ls1 powered rx-7's. lots of sr-20 powered ae86 corrola's. if you are partial to that engine by chance and know alot oabout but like the looks of another car i don't see a problem with it.
the only engine swap i have every seen that left me saying..."WTF" was a bmw 318i i think it was on youtube that some tool stuck a highly modified N/A B16A honda motor in it. i am pretty sure he could've got more power throwing forced induction on the bmw powerplant but oh well, his dime and not mine.
anyone remember braker's 4g63 awd evo retrofit he did on his RD1?
