Always on the cars.
The F250 is a different story. It uses 15 quarts of Rotella. Walmart charges $75 and vacuums the truck, where it would cost me $60 to do it myself and I'd have to dispose of the oil. Is the work worth the extra $15? I'm still wondering.
However, the last time I went, they didn't tighten down the plug and my truck left 2 large oil spots on my driveway!!!! ARG! So now I'm thinking it IS worth it to do it myself.

My biggest reason for doing it myself has nothing to do with cost. It is because the dumbasses at most lube shops are the last people I want touching my car. Back when I didn't do it myself they were always leaving stuff open, the caps off, not tight enough, etc.

about 95% of the time. every once and awhile i'm out of town or just don't have the time. as of the moment i don't have a jack, stands, or a drain pan anymore, so last change was at the shop.

i only send it to a shop once a year, and thats only because i dont have a garage and it gets extremely cold here between december and february so i take it to a shop where i know the owner and i watch then do it or i go right before they close when the lifts are free and do it myself. i dont really trust them guys with my car
