No mods worth mentioning. ;-)

So then what have you done, go ahead and mention it.

Now then, I'm fairly new to Hyundai, I know a good bit about Honda though, but that won't ever come in handy here. Anyways, the pages everyone else has listed will tell you about everything you need. But if you really want to take your car apart, Hyundai Service. Good luck, and have fun smile.gif

Wow, loads of thanks, guys!

Welp, first off Random, I would be willing to buy some books for $25 or whatever they may cost. I just need some info that will give me a good running knowledge of engines / mods and how they all fit together, etc. For example, I have a good idea what a turbo can do to a car, but I wouldn't know the first thing about what I would need to do to my car to prevent it from 'breaking'. Redone pistons? Calipers? Rods? Hell, I don't even know what those things are! Hehehe; anyways....
I was thinking of tossing an intake in there, but I don't know what kind would be the best, or what have you. I heard that the ones they make for the Tibby are all decent enough...not that any one of them totally blow the others away. Anyone heard anything good or bad about AOS, Dragon-R, or the Shark Racing intake? (Not that I could find the SR Intake on their site....)
Moving along, I haven't done anything to the car yet. Just some decent-looking tints (in my humble opinion). I'm not much into the looks of the car, I'm really into making it a bit faster, but the visual mods seem to be so much cheaper and easier!! :-)
Let's see.....oh, one more thing....
I have recently been experiencing a slight 'bumping' feeling while driving. No specific type of driving makes it more or less pronounced. It feels like it's on the tires, and I took it to the Hyundai dealership - They told me to bring it to a Michelin dealer, and get a new tire due to "flat spots" or a twisted belt. I took it to Sears Auto Center, and the guy looked at it, and told me he didn't find anything. It seems like the tire man was trying to get out of some work, but he spent a lot of time trying to help me out. He called up Hyundai to find out more specifics, and they don't have any records of me coming in to get my car looked at. So, any of you know what it could be if it turns out to not be the tire? Again, thanks bunches. smile.gif

I'll create a seperate thread for reccomended books. Look for it this weekend.

The bumping is either an out of balance tire/wheel combo, bad bearings, warped rotor, or bad tire.

The Balance thing would come and go as the balance of the 2 wheels get off sync and sync back up.

The Bad bearings would be speed dependant, but would be worse on rough roads, and you should hear a rythimic sound coming from the bad wheel bearing a slow speed.

Warped rotors would be noticeable under braking...the brake pedal would vibrate, and it would get worse with braking..

If it is a tire problem, you should be able to spot which tire it is with agressive high speed cornering (NOT SAFE WITH A BAD TIRE). Only do this in a large open parking lot. Some aggressive hard left or right turns at above 35 or 40 should point out which side the bad tire is on (bumping getting worse as you load the tire). If you can feel it through the steering wheel, it is the front tire. if you can only feel it throught the body it is the rear tire.

If all else fails...take your car back to the dealer. Ask the dealer to call you local sears store to set the appt for you and to describe the problem. That way, everyone is on the same page.

Hyundai might be trying to weasle out of a repair, or sears could be trying to weasle out of a tire fix.

Not to be a pain, Random, but how 'bout that
list of books/periodicals/whatever that
contain tons of info on cars/engines/etc?
I hope this post works...I'm on a text-only
browswer right now.
