Garage lighting
I'm in the process of moving into a new townhouse with a 1.5 car garage.
Currently, there are two 100 watt bulbs and the light from the garage door opener. I'd like to put up some fluorescent lights, but have limited options since it is a rental.
Any suggestions? I'd like something more than just some work lights, but something that isn't going to majorly change the property and stay within a small budget.

Get a retractable work light. Great for working in/on/under your car. Mount it to the ceiling and plug it into the garage door opener.

I bought a nice stand up dual halogen work light for $30 when I was in a duplex. I even use it now at my house, but will eventually install some flourescents.

*Get a screw-in light bulb socket-to-power outlet converter
*Get a splitter for that
*Get a couple of 4' fluorescent fixtures
*and a power extension cable for each fixture
"Temporarily" mount the fluorescents on each side of the garage, a few feet from the wall, or at least one over your work bench if you have one and one over the other side of the garage.
