Does anyone know where I can find the price of a wrx tranny and engine? Just curious i know the custom fabrication would be crazy i'm just wondering what the parts would cost me. thanx.

Also like to mention, the WRX engine is a longitude mounted engine.

The BETA in the tiburon is a transverse.

Its like trying to stick an circle were a block fits.

Pricing should be rather cheap since most guys trade it out for the sti engine.

www.car-parts.com it's a pretty good site for finding used stuff. it's a nation-wide search engine for salvage yards. i got my drive axles through this site. btw, the wrx engine is a longitudinally mounted engine. the beta is a transversly mounted engine. dude, it's not worth it. if you're gonna spend the money to slap the wrx engine in there, just buy the rx7 2-rotor or supra 2jz. for the money, you'll have so much more potential.

yeah but if i cut out the rear subframe of my car install new axels, rear wheel tubs, rip out backseat, put on tubular front end etc, then it really wont matter how hyundai had their engine setup. i am just trying to figure out what engine i want ie chevy small block or import engine so i can figure out what transmission (rwd/awd) so i can pick the right axels. I know i can get a 300hp small block for 3k or less and have room to tune up to 5-700 hp out of it, just wanna compare that to some of the import engines out there.

what i really want to put in is a 700 horse hemi i just dont have 12k to drop on an engine alone (never mind try to make it fit)

Heh.

Yes you can spend a few thousand custom fabricating then welding new **** in.

But dont forget.

All that work has now need to be certified by an engineer to be registered on the road.

Yeah I suppose you can get away with it if you live in a area with dumb ppl.

but they will investigate when you get into an accident and the transmission came through the floor and took off you right arm.

No insurance no compensation then.

Why a WRX engine?

It would be LESS expensive and LESS dangerous dropping a 4g63t.

i havent decided on any engine yet doing my research right now. I was thinking wrx becasue of the AWD. As far as safety goes I got two things going for me.
1.street rodders have been chopping cars apart and rebuilding them for years and they havent had to many problems. (plus i have a friend that has been welding for 20yrs and builds his own drag racing trucks, and an uncle that runs his own transmission shop...he can rebuild trannys in his sleep)
2.i'm in the military so i'll get 100% medical coverage as long as i wear my seat belt. wink

have fun smile.gif

again I point out

get an engine from a eclipse GSx

its awd
its turbo
makes 450hp stock.

what more do you want?

oh yeah, if by some act of god you talk someone into rewelding half your car for the wrx.

Get the wrx STI engine and awd.

It doesn't like the normal wrx does.

Kieron-

Get Forged Pistions
Get Forged rods
A turbo manifold
a Turbo
intercooler
Have your welding buddy make pipes for the charge air plumbing
get a Haltec E6K or E11K
Get a stronger clutch
Get a Quaife LSD

Now you should be good for 600 WHP

It will be SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than trying to drop in any other engine.

BTW...Shaddoh The 4G63 Mitsu engine does NOT deliver 450 in STOCK form.
