ECU

Bad news... Well as far as I know.. there is no way to reprogram the OEM ECU. If haven't done any performance mods to your ride yet, you should start with the basics (intake, plugs, exhaust etc) we all here don't really worry too much about the ECU, unless you are going way serious about modding your car... my 0.02 cents... start with the basics

I have no idea where you could get the software to re-program the ECU.
If you find any...let me know. I would love to find out what settings we can change! *drool*

Super Street mag had some tricks on reading ecu problems or something like that by reading sparks. I'll have to find the issue...anyways never heard of reprograming but try Superchips for upgrading your ecu. I'll confirm on the site but try searching.

The HDK page does say that they can do it, but it gives no details as to what they do or how they do it. They also show an ECU board for a Korean Spec or "Revision A" Beta ECU with the removable Siemens chip. 1997 and newer beta engines have a Bosch chip that is sodered to the motherboard and is not removable.
HDK does not have the best track record for customer service on orders, so I would strongly caution against sending them your ECU for re-programming.
Since they offer them on an exchange basis...that's not so bad, but $299 is sorta steep....the $100 core charge is dirt cheap. For $100, I would keep my stock ECU.
Also..their performance ECU is

For customers with big bore throttle body, intake, muffler, cam shafts modifications only
99% of the people on this board do not meet those requirements....so that new ECU is useless...
