Do you keep all your receipts and a car log?
My friends thought I was crazy when I showed them the log I have on my car. I document every single oil change, and every single thing done to the car no matter how big or small. I also keep all records and receipts in a filing cabinet with the log. Anyone else do the same?

I usually do, for my SUV. If you always go to the same place (Valvoline, Quick Lube, etc.) they can probably print a report of your history, so keeping receipts isn't necessary. When I bought my GC, I talked with the salesman and he said they really do offer more on trade-in for vehicles with detailed maintenance history reports. Sometimes an extra $1-2k
For my GC, I won't keep receipts unless it's major maintenance (e.g., radiator replaced) since I'll be buying my own oil/filters/coolant to do my own routine maintenance.

My Dad has kept a log book of all his cars since he was in his 20's. It rubbed off on me. I only keep recipes for parts, everything else I write down in the log book.
Here's the format I use(My Dads format)
And yes I know I was lazy back then and never changed my oil fp.gif
