Do you beat on your car?

Do you beat on your car?
So me and the boyfriend had a heated "discussion" today about why I don't beat on my car. We both have different views seeing as he owns a 2006 WRX for about 3 years now and I have my 2005 Tib which Ive owned for about 2 years.
Out of all the cars I have owned, this one happens to be the newest. Being that I am 22, pay my own car insurance, and other bills, there is no room for error. I dont have a backup plan god for bid something is to break seeing that I am working just to pay bills sad.gif and dont have a whole lot left for fun go fast goodies.
OK, I admit, I drive like a granny. Sometimes, here and there, I'll pop the clutch and chirp gears. But other than that I drive to arrive!
His feeling is that why should I have invested my money into a "sporty" car when I dont even "beat on it" IE: the occasional revving (I dont even allow it to pass 3-4k rpms when shifting!)
He says I should have just gotten a slower car for that matter.
So come on guys & gals,
Any input on this? Do you guys beat on your cars? Whats the definition of "beating on your car" mean to you?

Occasionally, yeah. I'll do a little bit of bag-driving or speed-putting around.(125mph to the next town over) But normally I try to keep it mellow. I don't go nuts because I know that with the laws around here, not only can they take my car for "racing", but my license too. And, well, I need to keep my license for my job so a lot of the time I stay at the speed limit. Maybe 6 mph higher. Depends on my mood.

I don't speed much anymore, but I beat the hell out of my cars.
I like driving. In a perfect world every time I rolled out of my driveway I would trip a timing light and the object would be to get to the destination as quickly as possible. I don't drive like that's the way it is, but that would be a perfect world for me. I launch pretty hard from stop lights usually, shift up at redline merging onto the highway, and squeal my tires around tight off ramps. In my younger years I would add a whole bunch of illegal driving activities to that, but really now I've calmed way down and take a lot of the aggression out on the track. And I autocross my daily driver, so that's the hard core beating it receives.
I have destroyed 3 engines, 5 transmissions, and 3 differentials. Oddly, I've never worn out a clutch. I've spent over $10k on tires and wheels since they get the most abuse. I currently have 8 wheels and 10 tires for the Accent, and 12 wheels and tires for the Tiburon. I sold one set of Accent wheels and tires.

don't really beat on my car...I just cruise because I don't feel like it's very fast in the first place. I do like to swing it pretty hard around corners sometimes though laugh.gif

Here is what you don't do if you want your car to last longer.
Launch at high revs or powershift from gear to gear.
Shift damn near redline even if you aren't dropping the clutch into the next gear.
Take turns 20 mph over the limit pushing the tires to their limit.
Rev the car like you're making an exhaust video everytime you're around your friends or trying to impress another car/person...
Do...
Change your oil every 3-5k with a Hyundai oem filter depending on oil type.
Obviously all book maintainence on time. (timing/water-pump/plugs especially)
Do I go to the track and beat the f*ck out of my car a few times a year? Absolutely, with 200 whp more than stock. Do I make a wide open pull onto the highway every now and then? Of course, but I watch my wideband and keep track of my fuel trims everyday.
Bottom line, be smart and knowledgable. Not safe and unknowing...

Hell yeah. If you spend the money and it supposed to do it. Then do it. I don't mess with passengers, I don't show off for crowds on local roads. But I take to tracks and I use the highway for max speed. The car is to outdo another car in performance then you baought it for a reason. Luxury car ok enojy it, but if I got a turbo, your gunna know it. If I get to drive the porche it owns when I want it to. Don't upgrade what's under the hood so it can do 55 and fade away. My 4 banger will not be driven for the same experience as say an exotic. Don't bring back muscle cars and not use them for what they are built for or at least suppose to. Or just get a 1.3 ltr and a fiber glass body of anything you wish you had for looks. They give you power to get up and GO!
Too many cars to test. Drive it like you stole it and when they take it there are plenty more to choose from.
