Another question for the masses
Im wanting to rebuild my engine for something other than to go fast. I have to have an engine that will pul some weight. What I mean about weight is Ill have 8 10" solobaric tens in a very large ported enclosure in other words no back seat. So knowing a turbo would just burn up under the stress ill have to go N/A but what all should i do? Do I need more torque than horses or would I have to change the tranny gearing? It is a 99 tibby. Please dont post get rid of the stereo

I`ts a myth that `a turbo would burn out under the stress`!.
Turbocharging is the finest way to gain torque, which is what you need to get your mobile ghetto-blaster moving!.
N/A. mods to make anything like the same improvements would cost $1000`s more!.

You'd be better off with a turbo to move all that weight than N/A.
Assuming you bored/stroked, and did everything humanly possible to that 2.0L block, you'd get no more than 180 WHP out of it in N/A Form and keep it a daily driver.
The turbo could do that cheaper, easier, and have more torque down low to get you moving.

well, even the sc wouldn't "burn out" because of the towing stress. it does the same thing turbocharger does: it just forces air in the engine, creating torque wink forced induction is the only way you're gonna get the torque you're seeking.

A supercharger will not burn out either. They both do the same. The reason your supercharger cougar said don't tow anything, is because the charger, nor your car is geared for towing. The stress forced on the motor because the gears weren't helping at low end would then put more stress on the supercharger....and out of the two which one do you think would be the first to go, block or supercharger?
