Xtd Stage 3 Clutch & Flywheel
#12
ok, not to bring up an old thread, but the south bend clutch i would vote against, had mine in for less than 1k miles and its slipping already, with easy driving up to 500 miles, then semi hard driving now and then after 500 and is slipping like crazy, unsure what im gonna do right now about it

Well since the post is back alive,I'll update. This clutch kit is still tighter than ever!I have just under 4000 Kms on it and and it seems as good as it was when it was newly installed.I can lay rubber in all of first gear and chirp it into second. It's been good for me so far folks.Larrs

Hrm.. Can someone post about this clutch in the clutch review thread?
All we have on the XTD clutch is that it slips at 230 it is unknown if the clutch was broken in. XTD is SFI certified drag racing material, I'm looking at a stage 2 or 3 currently.
I've been looking for a clutch for a while, can I get someone to do a better review in this thread? http://www.rdtiburon.com/index.php?showtopic=24855

I have had my South Bend stage 2 clutch for a year now and have had zero problems with the normal IHE. It says its good for 260lbs/ft. And I drive on it hard, and pack the miles. I could either assume you installed it incorrectly, didn't break it in, cant drive an manual (I doubt this one if you got an aftermarket clutch LOL), have too much power, or it was defected. Which flywheel did you mate it to? I have mine paired with a Fidanza flywheel. My flywheel is HY-3.

^^ Hey, don't post that here. Post that in here http://www.rdtiburon.com/index.php?showtopic=24855
This is not a clutch review thread, post that in the clutch review thread please? Put up your experience with your list of modifications or estimated HP.

tuscani- i got the street disc "stage 1" and so far hasnt performed to anything everyone elses has, i had a local shop install it and didnt find it needed to machine the flywheel after 86k miles apparently mine was perfect condition... NOT... its just the OEM flywheel since its the first time any clutch work has ever been done on the car
for break in, i gave it 500 miles of granny shifting before i actually tested anything at all and it at first gripped, but i noticed the 2nd day i had the car i had shifting into 2nd and it felt like i was at like 500 rpms trying to hammer the gas when i was at 2k barely letting go of the clutch
im pretty sure im not making anywhere near the 202 ft.lbs of torque either to be overpowering the clutch
as for driving manual i have been driving manual since i was 10, i do know how to drive manual (thanks though nana.gif )
