Wierd, no speed limiter?

Wierd, no speed limiter?
Ok, today found a nice open road and took my tibby to 135mph and I was still going before I ran out of road tho.
But the only think I can think of that would cause this is the S-AFC? but i don't think it has that ability? is it possible that they forgot to program it at the factory?

Does that mean that the mileage is off to, if its reading faster than so is the amount of miles you are driving going faster than it should making your warranty shorter. eek!

Also keep in mind are you running 205/40/17's? if so there is a 3% difference in rpm at 60MPH. that takes off a little bit of the speed. SO for the guy who meantione dthe speedo recalibrate and the mileage. The speed with those tires if your speedo says 63 you would be going about 60mph. But your rpms will jump a little. Also I can't remember the mileage difference but it shoudl be something like at 10000 miles your mileage on the car should say 10300. if your speedo is calibrated too high in this case, your mileage would be lowere than 10000 miles. Basically if its at 10% too high then at 11000 miles your actual mileage would be 10000 making your warrenty longer not shorter. Best way to test this is to have your speedo checked and recalibrated. I dont think it will bee off that 10% but maybe 2-3% total. I hope this doesnt confuse anyone. smile.gif
to add: if your speedo said 135 then ~7% (3% @60mph x 2 and add a little for the 15mph) differenmce due to tire size (assuming the factory calibration of speedo meet requirements) then at 135MPH on your speedo you woul dactually be going 125MPH.
even if the calibration was off on the car the speed limiter should still go off when the speedo says 125 in 4th. Reguardless what the actuall car speed is because it takes readings from the RPM/speedo because of a reed switch behind speedo in addition to other things. Elantra Tech has a FAQ about how he tried to disable the limiter and esetually failed smile.gif

The strange thing is that I supsected a my speedo being off because
1. i chaned the inserts myself
2. I was maxing out at 110 for a while
i changed fuel and ran some injector cleaner and i got my power back so I was up at 120 for a while. On the way down to gulf shores i had a followed a buddy with a prelude and we matched speeds at 50mph and 80mph using a walkie. so I know my speedo is at least accurate around there.
but I still want to see if its really true or not. so is how can I recalibrate the speedo? so I can do it again and take a picture?

i dunno, i just got a alignment and it seems to run nice at that speed. I'm going to be getting the Apexi RSM-GP controller, which will tell me digitally what my speed is. so i can see how accurate the speedo is. but i've never found that point where there's a fuel cut-off, well at 7.5Grand, but that was on purpose wink and my s-afc told me that I was 7448rpm. Which scared me because I know its not supposed to go past 6500rpm.
anyway, i'll get the rsm-gp installed and take it to the track. I was riding with a buddy in my car as well.
another thing that i did with my ecu was originally wire the s-afc backwards so when I cut that AF sensor(which was something else) i had to reconnect the wires that I had cut with a thicker 3inch piece of copper cable. Which i could act like a resistor and throw whatever that cable was off right? anyway. I don't want to get any BS flags so i'm going to get my gsm installed and see what speed i was really doing. because if my tire calculations are correct, I was doing
135mph(speedo)+3.498%(205tires)=139.66MPH! eek!
Whats the fastest anyone has gotten their tibby up to? I know there was a claim of 150 before, but don't know if that was confirmed? If possible could one of you guru's tell us what the maximum speed can be with the gear ratio's and hp? I think i remembered that you'd need 200+hp to break 150mph right?
PS(thinking about it, i do have a turbulence sticker, doesn't that add 50hp and remove the speed limiter!
